Ruaha, Tanzania; which is the country’s second largest national park of heart-stopping landscapes now has two new lodges Asilia Africa; Jabali Private House and Jabali Ridge.
Opened in September – Jabali Ridge
First up is Jabali Ridge, opening in September 2017 as the most stylish of safari camps. The project takes inspiration from the inspiring Ruaha landscape; baobabs, palms and rippling kopjes (small hills.) The result is a stylish haven of sultry, earthy colours, open spaces and clean lines.
A sun-soaked infinity pool and two enormous viewing decks overlook the Mwagusi Sand River and the unfolding landscape beyond. The ten bedrooms are wonderfully private, shaded by huge granite boulders.
Each has a private sunken deck for view-gazing and al fresco breakfasts while inside, wooden shutters and mosquito nets cocoon four poster beds. Amid the wonder of safari, there’s plenty of time kick back and relax – float in the infinity pool or succumb to the temptation of a massage.
Opened in October – Jabali Private House
Jabali Private House is southern Tanzania’s first private house on the safari circuit. Built around three magnificent baobab trees, the house is available only for exclusive bookings; sleeping up to six, the house offers a completely unrivalled experience for families or small groups of friends.
The spacious house has three beautiful bedrooms, indoor and outdoor dining areas and a private plunge pool, while guests are also welcome to relax in the infinity pool at Jabali Ridge. The house comes complete with a private chef, guide and vehicle, with a pace of life focused on the very best game-viewing experience.
Ruaha has half the number of visitors of the Serengeti; this is a place for exclusive safari, from both properties. Explore the open grass plains and dense woodland game drives, night drives and walking safaris; track lions, watch elephants gather to drink in the watering hole, catch giraffe starting their day at sunrise. Expect gourmet ‘bonnet picnics’, surprise pop-up lunches, the most memorable of sundowners and dinners under the stars.
